Welcome to Flip. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information (name, email address, phone number)
• Financial information necessary to process transactions
• Communications you send through our service
• Device and usage information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Process transactions and send related information
• Send you technical notices and support messages
• Respond to your comments and questions
• Detect and prevent fraud and abuse

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. This includes encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure authentication mechanisms, and regular security audits.

We may share your information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating our platform, processing payments, and providing our services. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.

Some of the things you ask Flip to do happen in a cloud browser that Flip runs on your behalf. When a website that browser visits asks for a login, Flip does not have your password and does not ask for it. Instead it texts you a link that opens the site's own sign-in page on your phone, in the Flip app or its App Clip. You sign in there directly with the website, including any two-factor step or passkey.

Once you confirm the sign-in, the app sends only that website's session cookies (the tokens the site issued to your browser) to Flip's servers over an encrypted connection, where they are loaded into your cloud browser so it can continue as you. Your password, passkey and one-time codes stay between you and the website; Flip never receives or stores them. Cookies for other sites on your phone are not read.

Flip keeps that website session as a saved login so it can return to the site for you without asking you to sign in every time. Saved logins are stored with the same protections as the rest of your account data and are removed when you delete your account.

The Flip iOS app itself stores your phone number and a sign-in token on your device, and displays the information already in your account: your conversation with Flip and the financial overview built from the accounts you connected through Flip. It does not collect location, contacts or usage analytics, and it moves no money.

To enable bank transfers and ACH payments, we use Dwolla, Inc. as a third-party payment processor. When you link a bank account or send or receive funds, you authorize us to collect and share with Dwolla the personal and financial information necessary to provide these services, including your name, contact details, date of birth, your Social Security number, and bank account information.

To send the Flip Payment Offer, we obtain the routing and account numbers of your linked checking account from Plaid and share them with Natural, our ACH payment partner, together with the name on your Flip account, to originate the payment. We keep a hashed record of the bank account, phone number and email address used to claim the Offer, including after you delete your account, to prevent duplicate claims.

Your use of the Dwolla service is subject to the Dwolla Terms of Service and Dwolla Privacy Policy.

To provide credit, debt, and liability insights, we use Spinwheel Solutions, Inc. as a third-party service provider. When you connect an account or request these insights, you authorize us to collect and share with Spinwheel the personal information necessary to retrieve your credit and liability data, which Spinwheel obtains from consumer reporting agencies such as Equifax. This may include your name, contact details, date of birth, and Social Security number, along with the credit and liability information returned, such as account balances, payment history, and outstanding loan details.

Spinwheel maintains security and compliance controls designed to protect this sensitive data, and we access it only to provide the features you request. Your use of the Spinwheel service is subject to the Spinwheel End User Agreement and Spinwheel Privacy Policy.

Flip uses artificial intelligence to analyze your financial activity and to respond to your messages. To do this, we share your information with AI model providers — currently OpenAI, L.L.C. and Anthropic, PBC — who process it on our behalf to generate the responses, summaries, and insights you receive.

The information shared may include your account balances and transaction history, your messages with Flip, and information from the accounts you connect. It does not include your full account numbers or your Social Security number.

These providers process this information solely to provide the service to you, under contractual terms that prohibit using it to train their models. If you do not want your information processed this way, Flip cannot provide its core service, and you can delete your account at any time.

If you choose to share your location with Flip, we collect and store your location history so Flip can recognize the places you visit regularly and connect them to your spending. Location sharing is optional, it is off unless you turn it on, and you can stop it at any time from your device’s sharing settings or by asking Flip to stop.

We use location only to provide these features. We do not sell location information, and we do not use it for advertising.

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only where we are required to retain it by law — for example, financial recordkeeping obligations that apply to transaction records.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings in your Flip dashboard. Deleting your account removes your profile, conversation history, connected-account links, and location history from our systems, other than records we are legally required to keep.

Where we rely on your consent to process your information, you can withdraw it at any time. You can disconnect any linked account, turn off location sharing, or delete your account entirely from Settings in your Flip dashboard. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place.

You have the right to:

• Access and receive a copy of your personal data
• Rectify inaccurate personal data
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Object to processing of your personal data
• Data portability

We use essential storage for features such as sign-in and your cookie preference. With your consent, we also use PostHog analytics and Meta advertising technologies to understand site usage and measure marketing. Optional tracking does not load unless you select Accept, and you can change your choice at any time through Cookie settings in the site footer.

Our service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
